Training breaks your body down a little. Recovery is when it rebuilds stronger. Skip recovery and you'll stall, feel tired all the time and raise your risk of injury.
Sleep comes first
Adults generally need 7 to 9 hours. Short sleep makes hunger harder to control, lowers training performance and slows recovery. Keep a regular bedtime, dim screens an hour before, and keep the bedroom cool and dark.
Rest days aren't lazy days
On rest days, light movement helps: a 20 to 30 minute walk, stretching, or mobility work like cat-cow and hip flexor stretches. FitAI Coach schedules these for you on Premium plans.
Deload weeks
Every four to six weeks of hard training, take a lighter week with about half the sets. You'll often come back stronger. Longer FitAI Coach plans include these automatically.
Signs you need more recovery
- Your usual weights feel unusually heavy for over a week
- You're sleeping badly or feel restless
- Soreness lasts more than three days
- You've lost motivation to train
